Marriage Night

We were super blessed to be able to get together last minute to have our first “Marriage Night” entitled “Living with your best friend without becoming enemies.” This was after we learned that the Knox Presbyterian and New City Royal Oak marriage conference that some of us were planning on attending was way over-sold. Way to go fellow PCA churches, “Over Sold” is not something we experience all that often. We trust you had a wonderful night!

So 24 of us started out at the Millward’s loft where we had appetizers and discussed “The Meaning of Marriage.” We then moved to a private room at Traffic Jam and Sung where we had a wonderful dinner and then we separated the guys and girls into their own groups and discussed “The Challenges/Conflict of Marriage.” We came back together to share what we came up with in our respective groups, and we then, from a biblical perspective discussed why these conflicts exist and how to overcome them and have a most fruitful and God-honoring marriage.

Pastor Millward left the group, but particularly the guys, with a final charge to leave a legacy as husbands; to love their wives and take a leading role in her and the entire family’s spiritual nurture and well-being. And he quoted Sarah Edward’s letter to their daughter upon hearing the news that her husband Jonathan Edwards had died: “My very dear child, what shall I say! A holy and good God has covered us with a dark cloud. O that we may kiss the rod and lay our hands upon our mouths! He has made me adore his goodness, that we had him so long. But my God lives and he has my heart. O what a legacy my husband and your father has left us! We are given to God and there I am and love to be. Your affectionate mother — Sarah Edwards (3 April 1758)

Venue Change April 17

Due to Detroit Symphony Orchestra tryouts on Sunday, April 17, we will be unable to worship at our normal spot. But we are excited to worship one block north at a venue we’ve desired to check out for some time. It’s the Garden Theater at 3929 Woodward Ave. There is a parking garage off of Alexandrine. So mark your calendars and get the word out! Worship at the Garden Theater, April 17 at 10:45am.

Ladies Night

The ladies having been getting together once a month for an evening of study, conversation, encouragement, prayer, and dessert. One thing that is different about our Ladies Study is each month we have a different gal facilitating our study. We have been reading about and discussing the “Women in the Bible.” We began with Eve, the first woman created by God, to last week, Tamar, the daughter of King David. On April 12th at 7:00PM, we pick up our study on Esther. We’d love to have you join us!
